Copyrights
Copyrights protect original works of authorship. Original works may include such things as literary, musical, dramatic, pictorial, sculptural, audio-visual, architectural works and computer programs. The copyright comes into existence when the work is "fixed in a tangible form," separate from whether the copyright is registered. A copyright protects the work of an author against unauthorized reproduction, preparation of derivative works, distribution, performance, display or transmission. The copyright protects the artistic expression but not the ideas embodied in the material.
We assist clients by preparing, filing and prosecuting applications to federally register copyrights.
